The Rules of the Grown-Up Game (Ladies version)

These are the rules of playing grown-up:

(1) You do not talk about being a grown-up, you must act like you already are one.
(2) No torn jeans. Un-ac-ceptable.
(3) No super high heels. Ladies, you must be practical. Grown-ups are practical. Only low or medium high heels should be worn - at all times. Flats at the other extreme of the shoe spectrum are also not acceptable unless you are taking the kids to the park, beach, random camel rides in the desert or baseball games - on account of the sand factor.
(4) Stomping your feet and pouting are seriously frowned upon (without actually making pout with your mouth).
(5) You must smile when your friends get married and not worry too much about still being single with no prospects in sight AND you must especially avoid getting too drunk at the reception and embarassing yourself to such a degree that all potential prospects run away from you screaming.
(6) Remember: Big girls don't cry. They said it to us as children and it still holds once you become a grown-up.
(7) You must be financially aware.*
(8) It is your responsibility to take out the trash, clean your own room (actually, the entire house) and wash all the dishes.
(9) You must eat your vegetables. You do have permission to moan about it, but you have to face reality and realise that they are good for you and must be consumed in appropriate quantities.
(10) You mustn't wear too much makeup nor attempt to look like a hooch unless it is for a fancy dress party.

Those are the rules of the grown-up game.

*That does not mean that you can't be broke - grown-ups are allowed this privilege, but you can't play dumb for being broke. You must be fully aware and concede yourself to the fact that you are in debt... by millions.
